Helotes sits on the northwest edge of Bexar County, where the flat city grid starts rolling into the Hill Country. It is a small town that kept its character: Old Town Helotes, the annual Cornyval festival, and John T. Floore's Country Store, a legendary honky-tonk that has hosted everyone from Elvis to Willie Nelson since 1946.
